Risk disclosure
Version of 3 November 2026
Investing in the stock market involves risks. Read the following carefully before placing your first order.
Risk of capital loss
Share prices can go down as well as up. You may lose all or part of the amount invested. Past performance is not a guide to future performance.
Liquidity
On several African exchanges, traded volumes are low. An order may be executed only partially, with delay, or not at all, and the spread between buy and sell prices can be wide. It may be difficult to sell a security quickly at the desired price.
Currency
When you invest in a currency different from your own, exchange rate movements can reduce or wipe out your gains, or increase your losses. Some currencies experience sharp devaluations.
Country and regulatory risk
Political, economic or regulatory developments in a country, including exchange controls, can affect the value of securities and the ability to repatriate funds.
Suspensions and settlement
An exchange may suspend trading in a security. Settlement takes place several days after execution and depends on market members and depositories.
